A copy of a veterans DD Form 214/215 NGB 22/22A is required for all Category A-1 applicants to confirm the status. Youth Mentorship Program: Fort McCoy allows youth ages 10 and 11 to participate in all hunting seasons under the WDNR Mentorship Program. Mentors must possess a current year Fort McCoy hunting permit and Wisconsin hunting license. The type of license does not matter unless the mentor will also be attempting to harvest the same type of game. Mentees must possess a valid Fort McCoy permit and Wisconsin hunting license for each hunting season they intend to participate in. Only one weapon per valid Fort McCoy permit is allowed, if both the mentor and mentee have valid permits and licenses, both the mentor and mentee are allowed to possess a weapon. A mentor may not use any deer harvest authorizations issued to the mentee. Both the mentor and mentee must check- in/check-out daily. All participants must follow this regulation and the WDNR guidelines and rules associated with the program.
Drawing Selection Process: Permit selections will be based on a random drawing of all online applications within three category placements (A, A-1 B or C) with separate permit allotments established for each category (see Category definition on application information sheet).
Category A applicants will be drawn first followed by Category A-1, B, and then Category C. Any Category A, A-1, or B applicants not selected in the initial drawing will be included in the Category C drawing.
Any Category A, A-1, or B allotments not filled during the selection process will be available for the Category C drawing.
Any permits remaining after the initial drawing will be awarded first come first served. Online applications must be submitted by the application deadline date. No exceptions.
Group applications will be accepted (4 applications per group). When you Create a group application, a ‘Group Key’ will be given to the first person applying who selected create a group. First person applying will need to select Create Group when asked how they want to apply. At the end of the application process (after Checking-out and Confirming your order), the iSportsman system will generate a group key code which then you can share with those who you would like to join your group. Others who join your group need to select join exisitng group and need to enter the group key code in the text box, check-out and confirm order.
** If applying as a group with different category 'Status', the application is included in the lower tier drawing (Example: A group with a Category A and a Category C applicant would be included in the Category C drawing).
Individuals who indicate they are Category A (Active and Retired Military, Reserves and National Guard and military dependent ID card holders.), Category A-1 (Veteran), or Category B (Department of Defense (DoD) and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) civilians, retired government civilians, other US Government Civilian ID Card Holders, and legal dependents (spouses and children 18 years old and younger) in their account must provide credentials to verify their Category status for the permit lottery drawings. If your current validation in your iSportsman account has not expired at the time of your application, you do not need to resubmit a copy of your credentials.
Any accounts that are not validated by time of the drawing will be considered Category C (General Public).
Applicants that provided proof of Category the previous year other than retired, must still provide the information in 2019. The credential expiration dates will be added to your account information to reduce the need to provide this information in the future. Any social security number displayed on the copy of your ID must be BLOCKED OUT.
