Fort McCoy Gun Hunt for Hunters with Disabilities Season Dates: October 6-7, 2018. Hunt will take place on North Post.

- Note: Fort McCoy added a new Category, A-1 (Veteran). Check your iSportsman account to make sure you have the correct Category (A, A-1, B, or C) selected prior to applying for a permit.
2018 9-Day Gun-deer Permit: The 2018 Fort McCoy Gun-Deer Season application period has closed. Everyone that applied before the application deadline was selected for a permit and should visit their iSportsman account for more information. Due to reduced number of applications received, permits are still available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Contact the Permit Sales Office at 608-388-3337 for more information.
Fort McCoy Small Game, Fall Turkey, and Archery Permits: Permits for Fort McCoy Small-Game, Fall Turkey (available 18 August), and Archery seasons can be purchased directly from the WDNR GoWild website at https://gowild.wi.gov or purchased through an authorized vendor. An application is not required for Small-Game, Fall Turkey or Archery permits.
The appropriate Fort McCoy iSportsman access pass, hunting, fishing, trapping, non-hunting/fishing activity permit, and appropriate State of Wisconsin license and stamps are required to hunt, fish, or trap on Fort McCoy. Fort McCoy permits are not transferable or refundable.
Fort McCoy hunting, fishing, and trapping permits are sold through the WDNR GoWild System. Permits can be purchased at any authorized WDNR GoWild vendor throughout Wisconsin including WDNR Service Centers, Fort McCoy Post Exchange (military ID required), and Fort McCoy Pine View Campground. Fort McCoy permits are also available through the online WDNR GoWild system, www.gowild.wi.gov. See below regarding how to obtain a Fort McCoy non-quota and quota hunt permit(s).
Coming in March 2019: All permits will be sold through iSportsman starting 1 March 2019.
i-Sportsman Automated Sign-in and Hunting Information System: Fort McCoy i-Sportsman system allows individuals to obtain information on hunting and fishing opportunities, view hunting area closures (Game Line listing), Check-in/Check-out for daily scouting and hunting activities, and records individuals harvest information for certain hunting seasons.
New Users must register (create an account), must include their 9 digit Wisconsin DNR Customer Number, before they can apply for a permit, or sign-in for scouting or hunting activity. Registration can be done using a smart phone, computer (internet) or at the kiosk located at the South Hunter Information Point. Once an account has been created, daily Check-in and game line area closure listings can be conducted and viewed by smart phone, computer (internet), telephone (cell phone and landline), or on-site kiosk. All i-Sportsman accounts must be updated annually by adding the current Fort McCoy Access Pass and verifying your iSportsman account information is current. The Annual Access Pass is valid from March 1 through February 28.
NOTE: You will not be able to Check-in to an activity if you have not added the new or current Fort McCoy Access Pass to your iSportsman account. Login into your iSportsman account after March 1, and add the current access pass by selecting continue. There is no cost for the Fort McCoy Access Pass.
Non-quota season permits (i.e., Fishing, Archery, Fall Turkey, and Small-Game) can be purchased directly from an authorized WDNR GoWild vendor or online. A Fort McCoy application is not required to purchase these permits.
Quota season permits (i.e., Gun-Deer, Gun-Deer Hunt for Hunters with Disabilities, Cantonment Archery, Spring Turkey, and Trapping) are only available through the Fort McCoy online application process. Quota permit applications are only available through the Fort McCoy iSportsman website at www.mccoy.isportsman.net. Selection is conducted through a random drawing following the application deadline date. All applicants are notified of the selection results through the iSportsman system and can check the status of their application through their iSportsman account. Individuals approved for a quota permit(s) are provided instructions on how to purchase their permit(s).
The Fort McCoy Fall Quota Hunt applications are available online only by logging into your iSportsamn account and selecting Acquire Permits. No paper copies will be accepted.
If you are a Category A, A-1, or B and are entering an application for a permit, and you do not have a Category Validation or have an expired Category Validation in your iSportsman account, you will need to submit proof to the Permit Sales Office. See below for details.
Category A: Active and Retired Military, Reserves and National Guard and military dependent ID card holders. Proof of ID required for Category A validation. Applicants can stop by the Permit Sales Office (building 2168) with their ID or SF 50, or a copy can be sent to the Permit Sales Office. If sending a copy of your ID or SF50, any social security number displayed must be BLOCKED OUT. Note: The Fort McCoy Personnel Services Branch can issue ID cards for retired civilian personnel. Please call (608) 388-4563 prior to visiting for more information.
New ~ Category A-1: Military Veteran. A military veteran is any person who served for any length of time in any military service branch. A veteran is a former member of the Armed Forces of the United States (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard) who served on active duty/reserve and was discharged under conditions, which were other than dishonorable. A copy of a veterans DD Form 214/215 NGB 22/22A is required for all Category A-1 applicants to confirm the status. Category A-1 status only applies to veteran and does not include spouse or dependents.
Category B: Department of Defense (DoD) and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) civilians, retired government civilians, other US Government Civilian ID Card Holders, and legal dependents (spouses and children 18 years old and younger). A Civilian/Retired Civilian government employee ID is required for all Category B applicants to confirm the status. Retired government civilian employees may supply a copy of their retirement SF50 or a retired civilian ID card. For legal dependents, the parent/guardian government employee must provide their ID along with the names of dependents. Applicants can stop by the Permit Sales Office (Building 2168) with their ID or SF 50, or a copy can be sent to the Permit Sales Office. If sending a copy of your ID or SF50, any social security number displayed must be BLOCKED OUT. Note: The Fort McCoy Personnel Services Branch can issue ID cards for retired civilian personnel. Category C: General Public (those who do not qualify for Category A, A-1, or B). No copy of ID required. You do not have to validate your status with the Permit Sales Office.
The Youth Mentorship Program: Fort McCoy does not have a specific or seperate Youth Hunt for any of the hunting seasons; however youth (10 and older) can participate in any Fort McCoy hunt and can be entered into the drawing by submitting their own online permit application through their iSportman account. All participants (youth and mentors) must follow Fort McCoy regulations, WDNR guidelines and rules associated with the mentor program. Mentors and youth must be drawn and possess a valid Fort McCoy Fall Quota Hunt permit for any 2018 Fort McCoy hunting period. Maximim of 4 applicants for a group application.
Note: ALL applicants are required to provide a DNR Customer Number in their iSportsman account information prior to applying. Individuals who do not yet have a DNR Customer Number will need to obtain one before applying for a Fort McCoy permit. Contact a WDNR Service Center or call their toll free number at 1-888-936-7463 (7 days a week from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM) to have one created. Applications without the DNR Customer Number will be removed from the drawing process. The DNR Customer Number should be included in your account information when you registered with the iSportman system.
Selection Process: Permit selections will be based on a random drawing of all online applications within three category placements (A, B or C) with separate permit allotments established for each category (see Category definition on application information sheet).
Category allotments are: (A) 25%, (A-1) TBD, (B) 15%, and (C) 60%..
Category A applicants will be drawn first followed by Category B and then Category C. Any Category A or B applicants not selected in the initial drawing will be included in the Category C drawing.
Any Category A or B allotments not filled during the selection process will be available for the Category C drawing.
Any permits remaining after the initial drawing will be awarded first come first served. Online applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
Group applications will still be accepted. When you create a group, a ‘Group Key’ will be given to you at the end of the application process (after Checking-out and confirming your order), which you can share with those who you would like to join your group.
** If applying as a group with different 'Status', the application is included in the lower tier drawing (Example: A group with a Category A and a Category C applicant would be included in the Category C drawing).
Individuals who indicate they are Category A (Active and Retired Military, Reserves and National Guard and military dependent ID card holders.), Category A-1 (Veteran), or Category B (Department of Defense (DoD) and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) civilians, retired government civilians, other US Government Civilian ID Card Holders, and legal dependents (spouses and children 18 years old and younger) in their account must provide credentials to verify their Category status for the permit lottery drawings.
Any accounts that are not validated by time of the drawing will be considered Category C (General Public). Validation is required by August 3.
Applicants that provided proof of Category the previous year must still provide the information in 2018. The credential expiration dates will be added to your account information to reduce the need to provide this information in the future. Any social security number displayed on the copy of your ID must be BLOCKED OUT.
Copies of ID can be mailed, emailed, or dropped off at the Permit Sales Office.

Selection results will be awarded to your i-Sportsman account. Login into your iSportsman account and click on Lottery to see your drawing results. Individuals who supplied and email address in their iSportsman account will receive an email notification of their drawing results.
Successful applicants will need to ADD the awarded Fort McCoy permit to their iSportsman account. Click on Available Permits, select awarded permit and add to cart. Proceed to Check-Out, and Confirm your order. By adding the awarded permit to your iSportsman account, this will allow you to Check-in to your specified activity during the hunting season.
You still must purchase your awarded permit through the WDNR GoWild licensing system starting from the date that is stated in your award permit information.
